Rockfield's design service is based around analytical techniques and the application of computational modelling to determine the forces, stresses, and displacements associated with new and existing designs.
Our primary focus is on structural and machine component design analysis, third party design auditing and standards-based design certification.
Typical projects have included analysis of earthmoving equipment, mining truck bodies, trommels, rail components, sugar mill components, pressure vessels, underground mining devices, offshore structures, transfer chutes and agricultural equipment. A number of projects have been completed on elevated work platforms and other high risk plant needing structural design, auditing and certification. These projects include underground mining lift devices, offshore safety structures, platforms and agricultural equipment. The projects involve a scope including; review against standards, strength and stability testing, fatigue life assessment, operational and safety review and in-field testing. This service is complemented by Rockfield's engineering measurement capabilities, providing fitted instrumentation and data collection for strain, acceleration and deflection in structures.

RTA's engineers have applied their skills and proprietary finite element software to a wide variety of design problems that ultimately provide a good understanding of the stresses in critical structural regions and deeper understanding of failure modes including plastic deformation and fracture mechanics. RTA's rubber modelling capabilities also determine load deflection response, energy absorption and fatigue. Our ability to provide sound design solutions, fatigue analysis and modification reviews and are all key Rockfield engineering outputs.
